Update buggy Kile in Ubuntu 12.04 to 2.1.2

ImageUbuntu 12.04 Precise Panglion comes with Kile 2.1.0. This version is full of bugs, as such are:

  • Kile crashes on close
  • Projects are closed
  • Settings are randomly reset

As they all probably link to the first bug, a widely known one, the solution is to install an updated version (2.1.2) where this problem is fixed. Neither in ubuntu-updates, nor in the backports repository could I find an update. So the solution is to go for the official stable PPA of the Kile developers.

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:kile/stable; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install kile

After entering your root password and pressing Enter once you are presented with a little more bug-free Kile 2.1.2. Enjoy.
